South End Industrial Retail

Across from the old Boston Flower Exchange, this flower shop was the perfect location for our client’s first retail location in the city. The original wood, metal, and brick provided a rustic backdrop for the design team from ZDS Inc. to create a brand-new retail space.

To brighten up those original materials, white shiplap was installed on the interior walls, the original concrete floors were refinished, and the existing lighting was upgraded. Two large skylights above also do a great job in flooding the front retail space with natural light. To showcase their products and house the POS systems, custom-made metal and wood retail counters were installed, giving customers plenty of room to shop.

We also upgraded the existing mechanical system including a new HVAC system with an open plenum, which continues the industrial look of the original building. Two bathrooms were installed for customers and staff as well as offices and a kitchenette in the back.
